Research Institute (EERI), USA Support to NICEE 10. Recent
Donors to NICEE Details: 1. Workshop for Under Graduate
Architecture Students in Third Year The workshop for
Architecture students was held at IIT Kanpur during July 22-29, 2023, and 61
participants from 16 colleges across India attended. During the eight-day
workshop, the students learnt architectural and structural aspects of earthquake-resistant design and
implemented it for a project of an office complex for co-working spaces in Guwahati, Assam
- Seismic Zone V. The studio sessions were a mix of desk work and
informal lectures where individual cases were used to illustrate earthquake
engineering concepts. Faculty members who
participated as the resource persons included Prof. Keya
Mitra (IIEST, Shibpur, Howrah), Prof. Vasudha Gokhale and Prof Meera Shirolkar
(Dr. B.N. College of Architecture for Women, Pune), Prof Atanu
Dutta and Prof. Nayanmoni Chetia
(Jorhat Institute of Engineering and Technology, Assam), Prof. Nehal Desai
and Prof. Bhavna Vimawala ( arvajanik University, Surat), Prof. Ruchira Das (Women's Polytechnic, Chandernagore) and
Dr. Hari Kumar (GeoHazards Society, New
Delhi). Dr. Shailesh
Agarwal, Executive Director, BMTPC New Delhi, delivered a Special Lecture on the hazard
scenario using ‘Vulnerability Atlas of India’. Ar. Vikram Hundekar,
Mitimitra Consultants Pvt.
Ltd., Pune illustrated the use of Confined Masonry in IIT Gandhinagar Hostel
Design. The design prepared
by the participants was evaluated by a Jury panel comprised of Ar. Balbir
Varma (New Delhi), Ar. Vikram Hundekar (Pune),
Prof. Meenu
Varshney (NIT Jaipur), Prof. Mayank Varshney, (VIT Jaipur), and Prof. Vaibhav
Singhal (IIT Patna). The jury highly
appreciated the design assignment of the following participants. Team 1 Shriya Sushil Patil, Thakur College of Architecture and Planning, Mumbai Garima Agrawal, D.Y.Patil
School of Architecture, Navi Mumbai Team 2 Vidula Nitin Ghodekar, Pillai College of
Architecture, Navi Mumbai Nimit Kartik Makwana, Inst. Of Design Planning and Technology, Surat Purva Anand Lade, Pillai College of Architecture, Navi Mumbai Team 3 Yashasvi Ketan Bhavsar, Inst. Of Design Planning and Technology, Surat Sanika Dalvi, D.Y.Patil
School of Architecture, Navi Mumbai The participants
expressed a satisfaction level of 88.7%. The workshop was sponsored by
CSIESPL, New Delhi, and several supporters of NICEE 2. Platinum Membership of NBCC, New Delhi NICEE is proud to
announce Platinum membership to NBCC (India) Limited, New Delhi. NBCC is a
central public sector enterprise under the Indian Ministry of Housing and
Urban Affairs, which is involved in execution of diversified projects in
sectors such as Institutional, Housing, Industrial & Environmental,
Transportation, Power, etc. from 1960.
The organization has executed several landmark projects in india and overseas. A number of Central Government
ministries and various State Governments have used the services of NBCC as
their extended engineering arm. 3. Inter-School Quiz Competition based on IITK-BMTPC Earthquake Tips
2023-24 The invite for Inter-School Quiz for 2023-24 has
been sent to all schools. You may like to respond to the same. 4. Literature Review Workshop for Post Graduate Students 5. Open House of NICEE The open house is held with the aim to enable
postgraduate students to conduct literature survey for their thesis related
to earthquake engineering issues and interact with the faculty and
professionals. The Open House also welcomes professional engineers and
architects to help them familiarize themselves with enormous literature available
at NICEE on design and construction of safe habitat. The details of the Open

. 7. RESIST Software Available for Individual Users RESIST Software is now available for individual
users. A copy of the same can be requested from NICEE on payment of Rs.
2,000/-. This version of RESIST is customized to Indian codes and
construction conditions. However, a more recent update is available with
greatly enhanced graphical features but it is based upon New Zealand codes
and practices. It may be downloaded free of charge from the New Zealand Society
of Earthquake Engineering website at https://www.nzsee.org.nz/library/other-publications/resist/ . For further details regarding the earlier version
